Default Hero Acquisition

Can someone post the quickest methods of acquiring a few heros for a non-Elonian freshly arrived?

(NOTE: this is not counting the two from Tyria and Cantha)

Well when you do that first quest when you get to Elona, you get koss, dunkoro, talkora, and melonni right off the bat. The rest are about the same as a native.

Just following the main quests nets you a couple of heros in five minutes.

Wait wait. Just to clarify...

I'm talking about PvE.

I know that I can access them in PvP. Are we both on the same page?

Okay. Thanks guys

Won't be doing anything Nightfall related until I finish up Factions but I do want to at least be working with 3 heroes instead of 2.

Glad it's easy to get a 3rd!

Another question...

Who's more useful for my Monk: Jin or Sousuke?

I know I can get the other at the end of the game.

I strongly recommend taking Sousuke.

Later on, you will be given another choice between a ranger and a necro. I would take the ranger for Broadhead Arrow.

@ Rera: Prior to the choice between the next ranger and necro (Margrid and Master of Whispers), you would already have obtained Zhed, the Ele centaur. This is already at halfway Kourna, so not that far in Elona for a Tyria/Cantha-born character really.

there are 3 choices as you progress

ranger vs ele (you get ele later anyhow)

ranger vs necro (you may already have necro if you have Olias)

warrior vs mesmer (you already have warrior)

I prefer 2 rangers but everyone has different likes

Default Change hero?

I got an elementalist and would rather have the ranger from the island. Will I have a chance to get another ranger at a later date?

Uh, read the post that's right above you?
Ninna just answered your question.

Yes, you get a choice between a Ranger and a Necromancer afterwards.
And any heroes you didn't pick, can be picked up after you beat the game, so no hero choices are permanent.

I agree with Rhea on Sousuke, becauase having two Eles with Searing Flame and Gaze can melt almost any mobs in matter of seconds. Although having two barrage/pet Ranger is very useful, until they decide to nerf Searing Flame, this is the easiest way of demolishing massive amounts of mobs very fast.

The above posters have said it all. It goes in this order:

Battle Preparations: Koss (lvl 2 war), Dunkoro (lvl 6 monk), Melonni (lvl 8 derv), Tahlkora (lvl 12 monk)
Zaishen Elite: Either Jin (ranger) or Sousuke (ele), both lvl 11
Kodonur Crossroads Mission: Zhed Shadowhoof (ele), lvl 18, beforehand
Jahai Bluffs Primary Quest: Either Master of Whispers (necro) or Margrid the Sly (ranger), both lvl 18, both have different mission and primary quest paths in Kourna & Vabbi
After the Zebelkeh Basilica Mission: General Morgahn (lvl 20 paragon)

I'd say you only need one necro, which you can get in Olias. I'd go with 2 eles, Sousuke and Zhed, cause you can do a lot of damage with 2 SF/Interrupt eles + 1 MM in most of the game.

Another note, scrolls are a wise investment for leveling Heroes, IMO.

just left out goren(20W) or norgu(20Mes) optional - meaning not tied to main quests. Not sure which quests are prerequisite to opening this up though.

Anyone know which quests or mission you do to unlock one or the other?
